UC San Diego has contracted with SiteImprove to provide accessibility trainings that are tailored to specific audiences. Below are links to SiteImprove on-demand training videos developed for each roles.

Call the ITS Service Desk to gain access to the trainings. 

Writers and Content Creators

Ensure that any content you post on UC websites is accessible by using proper headings, adding alternative text for images, providing captions for videos, and ensuring that documents (e.g., PDFs) are readable by screen readers.

Email Marketers

Marketing emails must also adhere to accessibility guidelines. This includes ensuring emails are readable by screen readers, using proper structure like headers, adding alt text for images, and captioning any multimedia. Following these standards not only meets legal requirements but also expands your audience.

Web / Email Designers and Developers

Follow the updated accessibility guidelines when designing or updating websites to ensure that content is usable by people with various disabilities (e.g., visual, hearing, motor, cognitive). This may include making websites compatible with screen readers, ensuring that multimedia content is captioned, and providing alternative text for images.

Educators

Make sure that any online resources (e.g., syllabi, course materials, and lecture slides) comply with the UC accessibility standards. This could include making sure that online documents are formatted correctly for accessibility and that video or audio content has proper captions or transcripts.
